COMPSCI 111G LAB REPORT

The second lab is about the internet, we learned how to use the forum and blog, also some searching skills. Some of these skills I havent mentioned it before. It is a very useful lab that I have learned much.

And here's some of my new drawings during the holiday!=3=

The first idea comes from this simple random mockup. Paper marks created the edges and corners,makes each panel have a different shape.

Using Rhino and Sketchup to make my 3D model.




My design comes out.
Its basicly a chair with different triangular panels randomly extending from the top pentagon.
Each panel can represent one of the ideas. And once you open the door on one of the panels and store your idea, that panel is really become an idea.
Each panel can be opened and store your note or small sketches.
The internal space of each panel is triangular shape as well, as it has more relationship to the outside shape.
The reason I use transparent material is becauce people can look though the internal and realize the notes inside, make them to be curious and take a look.

Finished my office!!!

Well finally...I finished!
Yeah!!
Although it has so much problems....
such as the colums underneath does not support properly..
and the walls does not have the same effect as I thought.
funitures inside does not place and organise well...
and the biggist problem is that I lost my sea view and because of the place is too small,
I have to stretch my whole design to a different scale.. and this L shape building is kind of waste of places.

Tragic experience during built my office in SL

Look its half finished. Build beside sea and fit to the terrain...
but the place I choose is WRONG!!!
I should not build on that place and all other are being swept away from me!!!
sadly... I have to move

The first place I found on the Island where we should be...
lucky I got a sea view!?
But it did not last long.
Someone behind me yelled that my design blocked his view TAT
all right ..my fault...so I just move AGAIN.


Finally got my new place to restart.
the terrain is totally different and I can not redo it cause I've linked my office prims together when I moved it..
...still on the way to the end.

About alpha channel

Just tried to use alpha channel to mix 2 texture together...




both are nature environmental textures XD

Ideas get from different Architecture designs

Named 'the sensual city' the French Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 designed
by Jacques Ferrier Architects.

It's a simple building with a big style French garden inside. Surrounded by water so it appears to be floating.

The 6000 square meter pavillion will use advanced building materials and environmental protection technology including solar panels on top of the roof.

Erginoglu & Calislar Architects designed commercial building of Pendorya shopping centre located on a busy E-5 highway of Istanbul. The continuous intensity of the neighbouring highway traffic was taken into account in the design of the facade, which has been constructed with a brightly coloured logo-strip to catch the eye. On the ground floor of the building, the facade is covered in glass panels whereas the upper floors are constructed with custom-made, precast, concrete patterned panels in an effort to achieve long term maintenance and visual coherence.


Tony Owen Partners have design beautiful family house design located in Sydney. This house faces onto views of Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The house explores a more environmentally sensitive form of design called ‘micro design’. Micro design utilizes parametric modeling software which can respond to very small changes to design input criteria. The unique form is a response to the requirements to maintain view and solar corridors.




VHM Architecture have designed a new exclusive hotel named Axis Viana Hotel located in Viana do Castelo.The architects designed a stack of cantilevered volumes that create a chunky Lego effect, allowing the shape of the hotel to change depending on the perspective.

From those morden architectureArchitects have more to greening the environment, environmental protection concepts to their design. The building's exterior is relatively simple, clean lines and clear.
